Since being established in 2002 and accepting its first students in 2003, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) has trended solidly upward in terms of being a game-changer in the Durham Region economy and, most importantly, in gaining a reputation for its quality post-secondary education of students from Durham and across Ontario.

Gikendaasowin recognized: Shirley Williams receives honorary Doctor of Laws


On June 9, 2017 Shirley Williams will receive one of the highest honours from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), Oshawa, Ontario – an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree. This degree acknowledges her academic achievements in the advancement of Anishinaabemowin and Anishinaabe culture, philosophy and pedagogy.

Stouffville doctor gets honorary degree from UOIT

A Stouffville doctor received an honorary degree from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology for her national work in health care. President and CEO of Saint Elizabeth Health Care Shirlee Sharkey received a doctor of laws degree shortly after speaking at a convocation of students from the faculties of education and health sciences. The convocation ceremony was on Thursday, June 8.

UOIT marks biggest ever graduating class as 2,200 students receive degrees

The University of Ontario Institute of Technology recently celebrated its largest ever graduating class, as 2,200 students received degrees at ceremonies on June 8 and 9. One of them was Jonathan Anderson — a Clarington resident whose university graduation was a long time in the making. Unlike many of his classmates, he started at UOIT more than 10 years after finishing high school.

ACE takes part in strategic international trade partnership conference


Langis Roy PhD, Dean of the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies is interviewed by Radio-Canada program '15-30 Ontario' (host Mahhieu Gregoire) about the university's ACE and its efforts to find new research partnerships, including the United States (L'Institut universitaire de technologie recrute des clients américains). $33.5 million SIRC facility taking shape in Oshawa

Thousands of Durham College students celebrate graduation

DC also awarded its seventh honorary credential, a diploma in community development, to Edith Alger. Her involvement with the college started as a board of governors member from 1987 to 1992, then continued when she sat on the president’s advisory committee, providing insight into partnerships between DC and the newly established UOIT.
